About Us
Our pets provide us with affection, comfort, protection, amusement, and, most importantly, love. In return, it’s our job to make sure our dogs and cats are as healthy and happy as they can possibly be. And MyPetHealthGuide.com makes that job easy.
- From first aid to grooming to decoding your cat or dog’s occasionally mysterious behavior, we have great advice on giving your pet the very best care.
- And all of our tips and advice have been reviewed by an animal behaviorist or a veterinarian, so you can be sure you’re making the right, healthy choice for the furriest member of your family.
Of course, no one knows Fluffy or Fido better than you, so please keep in mind your own animal’s personality, species, age, as well as any pre-existing health issues, when choosing the tips that will work best for you. May the advice you find here point the way to many years of healthy, happy times together!

Maria Alessandra Smith is the managing editor of MyPetHealthGuide.com. She has been a writer -- and pet owner -- since the age of 7. While her first love will always be dogs, she’s learned to respect cats, too.
Hollis Templeton has no recollection of a life without four-legged friends. She awoke on Christmas morning when she was three years old to a white goat named Frosty, a gift from her parents who had just made the switch from city to country life. She also grew up with an affectionate Golden Retriever, a coffee-drinking Bichon Frise, a car-chasing Border Collie and always a couple of kitties. Her cats were the subject of countless school papers and substituted for dolls when it came time to play dress-up.
She is a graduate of the University of Michigan and holds a master’s degree from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism. Hopping around the country has made it difficult for Hollis to keep a pet of her own, but she makes frequent trips home to visit her family’s three cats, Victor, Pookie and Nikolai.
Meridith Lampert is a lifetime cat person who has a dog at the moment, having happily adopted her boyfriend’s dog when the two got together several years ago. Based in New York City, she lives with her now husband, two children, and Rescue, their 13-year-old Bernese/Chow mix. Meridith has held various jobs in the media industry over the past 15 years. Pictured here is her late cat, Orcy, a rare Japanese bob-tail adopted from the ASPCA.
