Some label dog dyeing as a form of extreme grooming, while others think it’s a straightforward example of animal cruelty. Over the past several months, “masquerade” pooches have gained major media attention in China, where in addition to having their fur dyed to resemble pandas and tigers, some dogs undergo a lengthy and complicated process of having sections of their coats shaved to make them appear more like exotic animals.

Some wonder if having a dog sit through a complicated dye job that can take up to eight hours to complete doesn’t seem a little unfair to the pup. What do you think? With Halloween approaching, would you consider transforming your pooch using dyes?
